UK Open Drift Championship
The Open Drift Championship runs once a month at our Buxton Raceway venue. The day begins with the drivers taking customers for two high speed passenger laps in the morning, so they can experience and understand the techniques used to drift. Follow the link for more infortmation on the passenger laps.
The free practice then begins between 12pm and 3pm, then the competition begins. Each Driver has 3 runs and is scored accordingly. The top two scores are added to give their round total. The score for each run are out of 100 and include;
Clipping Points (how close the driver dares to get to the marker)
Speed
Angle
Lots of smoke is a good thing too
Aggression
A spin results in a 0 score for the whole run

The Competition
Buxton Raceway is home to the oval circuit nicknamed ‘thrills in the hills’, this circuit is certainly for no amateur. With the diversity of the track, the Open Drift Championship can change path and direction at each round. This keeps the drivers on their toes!
The competition is open to any one who did not compete in any form of professional drift competition during the 2009 + 2010 season and who does not hold a valid BDC or Pro Drift Licence. For 2011 we are running 2 classes;
Class A – Drivers who have competed in any form of pro drift competition before 2009, drivers who have been drifting for numerous years and has a high skill level, the top 15 drivers from the 2010 ODC final
Class B – Drivers who have never competed in any form of pro drift competition, drivers who have only been drifting a short period of time, drivers who them selves or you venue organiser feels you will be suited in the B class
The 2011 ODC class B winner will move up in to class A for 2012 and the 5 people with the lowest scores from class A in the qualifying rounds will move down in to class B.
